Bacterial Vaginosis test~Bacterial vaginosis (BV) formerly known as non-specific vaginitis, is the most common cause of vaginitis and is characterised by an increase in vaginal discharge and overgrowth of certain bacteria in the vagina, including Gardnerella vaginalis. Although BV is not considered a sexually transmitted disease, sexual activity has been linked to development of this infection.
Bacterial vaginosis is grossly underdiagnosed because many women assume they have a yeast infection and treat symptoms with over-the-counter medications.
The incidence of BV increases with the number of recent and lifetime sexual partners or new sexual partners. BV is predominantly identified in women. Male partners are usually asymptomatic and rarely develop infections with BVs; however, the urethras of men whose sexual partners have symptoms of BV are frequently colonized with the same strain of Bacterial vaginosis.

This test consists of all the items needed to complete a PCR test at our laboratory, the Gold Standard in this type of testing. This includes full instructions, the test components and a reply paid envelope to our laboratory. It is double wrapped in case the package is damaged in transit and a security seal must be broken to use the test. The package itself is completely discreet with no external marking of Veolabs.
How does the test work?
Your test is based upon a urine sample which you provide for us at home and send back to our laboratory using the reply paid envelope included. There is no more to pay as the test is completely self contained.
How do I receive my results?
Your results will be available for you 48 hours after your test is received at our laboratory. Your results will be available to view on our secure server 24 hours a day by entering the results page on our website.
You will need to enter your unique customer ID and code which you will receive with your test to retrieve your results. These will be displayed on the screen along with information pertinant to the test results. Your name and address will be withheld from the report to allow your complete anonimity.
